Antimicrobial surface nanotechnology for health applications

Our Technology

Adina Technologies is developing novel technologies improving the success rate of dental implants.

The company has patent protected technologies to shape the dental implant surface in nanometer scale resulting in improved osseointegration performance and effective bactericidal  properties of the implants.

Two major challenges of dental implant sugery today are osseointegration and infection. A good osseotegration performance is critical to the success of dental implant surgery. Dental infection is usually associated with inflammation and severe infection will lead to bone loss as well. Today,  45% of all the dental implant have an infection problem in a long term [1].

Traditional method of surface roughning can improve the osseointegration of dental implant, however, it has no effect to prevent the infection.  Meanwhile, normal re-surgery process to treat infection is painful, time-consuming and expensive for patients.

This technology has shown very promising in vitro results and a consortium has been formed to move the technology through preclinical and clinical testing. The consortium includes specialists in nanofabrication, industry partners of dental implant, dental  clinics, university professors from Denmark and Sweden with implant expertise in preclinical models and in routine dentistry. The company has several other promising technologies for implant applications.
